Time To Walk 60 Miles in These Shoes!!

Ok Family, Friends, Acquaintances and People I have yet to meet! A friend of mine, Melissa, and I have decided to walk in the 3-Day, 60 mile, Breast Cancer benefit in November of 2009. I am ecstatic about this decision, and honestly a bit scared, because its a HUGE undertaking. I am going to start training this week, walking will be my new favorite pastime. I am going this weekend to get new shoes to start breaking in for training, and will start thinking of fundraisers this week too.

Cancer has played way too big a role in my family history, and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I am fighting the odds too. I have always seen photos and video of people that accomplish this huge goal and I am always in awe, and a bit envious of them. I want that empowerment for my own life, a sense of accomplishment for an amazing cause, an accomplishment for my own personal health and wellbeing, a sense of philanthropy to help people I have never met and to contribute to a body of knowledge that I may need to benefit from sometime in my life.

I am starting this adventure without any financial backing, and the fundraising venture seems a bit lofty. My theory- raising some money is a lot, seriously- A LOT easier to deal with than cancer- so I am ready to tackle that head on. My first attempt is to ask my family and friends that read this blog to search within themselves to think about what you might be able to contribute to this cause. I am going to open my donation site soon, and will update the blog soon with the information- but please think about all who will benefit from your donation- who may have benefited from this in the past and what you can do to help a most worthy cause!
I will also need moral support from all of you as I train to walk 60 miles in only 3 days!!! WOW, that is going to be fun, exhausting, and exhilarating all at the same time. More to come in the near future! Remember- Life is a Journey! Not a guided tour!

Friendly Poker Night!

This weekend, I spent some time with some neighbors and friends, and a few new people that I had the great opportunity to meet this weekend. I went with my sister and her husband to the neighbors for a cookout. First of all, Freddy made an AMAZING beef tenderloin, and pretty good chicken too! THANK YOU Freddy for cooking, it was better than perfect!

After dinner, we all pulled up the poker table and lost a few bucks to Mr. Rich! I lasted longer in the game than I thought, but in the end it came down to Cheryl and Rich, way to go Cheryl. Rich and Carla came down from Ohio for a quick business trip to San Antonio, but found some time to come up to Keller for a great visit.

Poker was great, I was up for awhile, but lost in the end. Then I started drinking more margaritas and wine... and started taking more pictures.. you can see the lovely progression throughout the night. It was a blast, and we all had alot of fun.

This one is my attempt at taking a picture of the whole group- obviously a bit unfocused... it was the best of all the attempts.

I'm a Boring Blogger!!!

Good Grief! I have to be more attentive to the blog, really. I started the whole facebook thing right after starting the blog and became addicted. So, now I am going to try to balance the time between them both... not that I spend alot of time on either. ( I think that is the problem).

I am moving again this weekend. Yes, AGAIN. I know, its my own fault- I dont have to travel- I choose to, but every 5 to 6 weeks is getting old and by the end of this 6 weeks in eastern dallas- I will have lived in a HOTEL room (small hotel rooms...) for 11 (count them) eleven weeks! Oh well. I dont have to make the bed or vacuum so I cant complain too much. And I get to sit out on the patio that looks like this! Its been pretty nice really.

I was reading all of my friends blogs tonight and SO many have new babies, and exciting things to blog about. I love the pictures of everybody's kids and cute things they are working on. SO, here are a few more pictures of my crazy dog... (I really dont have much else to post! something's wrong with that!).

Griffin:

I am taking my camera to work tomorrow and getting some fun pictures, so I will post them soon. I will be back here to post more about nothing, just as soon as I have a little nothing to talk about!
